Aleksandra Beauchamp
Aleksandra Beauchamp (Age 12) is a young Ottawa artist and the inaugural talent featured in our Community Corner. Now studying at De La Salle High School (Ottawa), Aleksandra has been creating since she could hold a crayon—spending hours coloring with remarkable care and attention to detail. Today, she explores visual arts across many mediums, including markers, pencils, gouache, watercolour, and always chasing new textures, colours, and techniques.
Her story. At age four, Aleksandra was diagnosed with leukemia. She received care at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), at CHU Sainte-Justine in Montréal—where she underwent a bone marrow transplant—and at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where she received a second bone marrow transplant. Today, she is healthy and thriving. Aleksandra credits these world-class centres, ongoing advances in cancer research, and—most of all—the exceptional health-care professionals who supported her throughout treatment.
Beyond the studio, Aleksandra is a competitive ballroom dancer in both Latin and Standard styles. That sense of rhythm and movement often finds its way into her compositions—flowing lines, dynamic shapes, and balance.
Looking ahead, Aleksandra dreams of a future in health care—either as a nurse or a cancer researcher—and she’s already putting her heart into helping others. In gratitude for the care she received, she has chosen the CHEO Foundation to receive proceeds from sales of her artwork featured here.
When Aleksandra heard about this project, she immediately wanted to be involved—and we couldn’t imagine a more fitting first artist. Her curiosity, discipline, resilience, and generosity embody exactly what Community Corner is about.
